LOCAL BODIES.
The Mount Eden Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. T. McNah, presiding.
Street Collections. — Permission was granted to the St. John Ambulance Association to take up a street collection in the borough on Friday, October 2. Drainage Levy.-—The Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board advised that the levy on the Mount Eden borough, assessed on a capital value of £5,572.999 was £3903, which included an amount of £225 on account of the Three Kings area to be brought into the drainage district.
Subsidy Works.—The foreman of works, Mr. J. Williamson, reported that the change-over in the wages and extra subsidy was now nearly finalised and when all the men received the extra allowance for special work the extra amount received from the unemployment fund would only just about balance with the additional pay that the council would have to give to the men.
