POTATOES ARE DEARER. NEW SEASON'S MAIZE. Since last report the potato market has filmed up and quotations at £8 7/0 per ton through store are 10/ per ton dearer than they were a week ago. To-day's shipment is it light one and it is expected that before the end of the week merchants will have reduced stocks. Latest reports from the South indicate firmness at the producing end. There is a good demand at present for seed lines and carlyX sorts are having a satisfactory turnover. The onion market is still being satisfied with supplies from I'ukekohe and prices are unchanged. There was a marked shortage of Australian pollard at the end of last week, but tlie arrival of the Oniana yesterday with fresh supplies relieved the position. Bran and limited quantities of pollard I are available from tile local mills at unchanged rates. Fowl wheat is offering more freely from the South and merchants have lowered their charges id per bushel to 5/11 Ungraded lines, ungraded being from Id to ■Id less. The maize market is still chiefly supplied from South African purchases, though small consignments of new season's local are now coming forward. Not being fully matured, they sell at a discount of 3d per bushel. Stocks of barley are getting low, but a shipment due by the Karepo next week will relieve the position. Horse feed is selling steadily. Chaff is firmer in the South, but no change has taken place in local quotations and B Cartons are still available at 4/ per bushel. Wholesale Current Prices. Pollard and Bran.—Mill prices: Pollard, £7 10/ per ton; bran, £6. Merchants' prices: Pollard, local, £8 per ton; Australian, £9 12/G; bran, £0 15/. Oats. — Feed: B Cartons, 4/ per bushel; A Gartons, 4/3; clipped Cartons, 4/0; clipped duns, 5/3; clipped Algerians, 4/6. Fowl Wheat. — Canterbury, 5/11 per bushel; undergrade, Id to 4d less.
