DANGEROUS ANIMAL
EXCITEMENT AT MANGERE. A young man was knocked off his bicycle while travelling along Walmsley Road, Mangere, by a Pool Angus cow on Thursday evening last. This cow had broken out of a mob of cattle which was being driven from Westfield saleyards to Mangere, and being fresh from the backblocks was unused to traffic and pedestrians, and was in a dangerous mood. The Mangere ranger was called upon and when ho proceeded to the scene, accompanied by a drover, they expel ienml great difficulty in getting the animal into a nearby paddock. A horse wandered out through the open gate and the cow charged the horse, winch promptly bolted back pursued by the infuriated cow. Before it was thus imprisoned in the paddock the animal had charged the ranger's car, doing serious damage to tlie radiator. The cow again caused concern the following morning, for when the owner of the paddock went to milk his two house cows he was prevented from getting into the paddock by the miscreant. The range* was again called upon to move it to another paddock, where it has now b.een left to quieten down.
