TRIALS AT EPSOM.

Work on the Grass—Lucky Love and Stargum. The grass track, with the poles 40ft out from the rails, was available for fast work at Lpsom this morning, and several useful efforts were recorded. The going was good and excellent displays were credited to Lucky Love, Guid Hairst, Stargum and Atido Patch, while the novice Bedfoi'd also went well. Tangaroa was first out, and was not knocked about to run a mile in 2.31, the Jnst half taking 1.11. This horse has shown big improvement as the result of the two races he had on the country circuit, and he should repay his owner for his patience before very long.

Guid Hairst gave Pink Lady 3s start from the mile and a quarter post and beat her comfortably in 3.0, the last half mile taking 1.11. Pink Lady registered 3.5, the final section in 1.12. Guid Hairst has •iieen working better tlian ever lately, and is in great order for engagements at the Auckland meeting. Pegaway was allotted a mile and a half, and did his work nicely all the way to register 3.43, the last four furlongs taking 1.10. He is looking well and going on satisfactorily.

Jumping away smartly from the mile and a half post Lucky Love was joined, after going a quarter, by Blandford, but the latter was not after time, and Luckv Love finished well clear in 3.37, the last half mile in 1.11. Blandford finished down the straight and was not timed. Lucky Love looks an improved horse, and is showing all his customary speed in his track essays. Auto Machine and Audo Patch went away on terms from the two-mile post, but Auto Machine fell in the straight the first time. After going four furlongs Audo Patch was joined by Student Prince, Bedford and Mountain Sun. They kept together practically all the way. but once into the straight Audo Patch finished on too well for his companions, and beat them home in 4.59, the last half mile in 1.14. He worked attractively. Bedford recorded 3.4G for the mile and a half and came home over the last four furlongs solidly in 1.15. Student Prince and Mountain Sun gave useful displays. Stargum and Kewpie's Crest were associated over a mile and a quarter, Stargum finishing well clear in 3.4, the last half mile taking 1.10 3-5. Kewpie's Crest took 3.6. Stargum impressed by his fine display, and looks a good prospect for a race at Epsom.
