WITH THE DETECTIVES.

"Conspirators Three" (Collins), by Stephen Maddock. Another of the adventures of T. Tend, of the Secret Service. The fiinding of a body on a beach leads him to* Naples and finally to Malta, in time to thwart the plans of foreign spies.

"No Alibi" (Longman), by G. Belton Cobb. An inquest revealed that arsenical poisoning was tlio cause of Christopher Heriot's death. Only three people could have given him the poison, but Mr. Cobb manages to keep the reader guessing until the last.

"The Wheel Spins'* (Collins), by Ethel Lina White, is more than a good thriller: it is a clever study of character, and is quite off the beaten track. It is all about. the strange and rather weird experience of a very modern young person—lris Carr —on a railway journey on the Continent. She had been one of a party of holiday-makers, whom another holiday-maker described as near-nudists, who drank all day and night, and were a complete nuisance. The party had left for home before Iris, a.ul she returned alone. On the train she made the acquaintance of an English governess, who later mysteriously disappeared —it turns out that she had been kidnapped and kept a prisoner on the train. It is Iris's persistent, undaunted attempts to discover what has happened to her that gives Miss White her opportunity to tell a tale that is aniu--tng, full of colour and movement, and full of suspense.
