HOURS AND WAGES.
FARM LABOUR CONDITIONS. i CONCERN IN TAR AN AKI. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday. Concern at the Government's delay in making known to farmers the proposed hours, wages and conditions of farm labour was expressed at a meeting of the Taranaki Farmers' Union to-day. It was stated that many fanners desired to make arrangements for the forthcoming season, but were unable to do so until they knew what the conditions would bo. The meeting decided to ask the Government to make a statement of what its intentions were in regard to farm labour and at the same time press the Dominion executive of the union to ask the authorities to release executive members from the bond of confidence imposed by the Minister of Employment, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, in respect of negotiations. Mr. T. Murray (Stratford) said at present hundreds of farmers wanted to make arrangements for next season, but they did not know where they stood. Air. H. E. Blyde (Leppcrton) : This will not help them. They will not know until August, when they know, what prices will be.
Mr. A. M. Coyne (Inglewood) suggested that the Government lie asked to make a statement oil the subject.
