BUSINESS IS GOOD. STRONG FINISH TO WEEK. Quite ;i substantial - list of sales was finalised on the Auckland Stock Exchange at the last call of the week, with Australian issues still prominent. Broken Hills were firm, with business at £3 12/6, more being available at that figure, with buyers still in at 3d less. Burns, Philp firmed up and sold 1/3 higher, at £3 12/, with more wanted, and later sellers asking (3d higher. Woolworths (N.Z.) continued the recent upward turn, and touched a new high level with business at £9 5/, after which sellers retired to £9 12/0. Banks were very quiet, and New Zealands were quoted lower, from £2 3/9 to £2 4/6. Insurances were in good demand, but the only sellers were of South British at £4 11/6 and of Nationals at 18/4.
