2300 MILES IN'NORTH ISLAND. AUCKLAND PROVINCE ROADS. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. The schedule of arterial highways which have been tentatively selected to form the State highways system —2300 miles in the North Island and 1800 in the South —has been announced by the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. li. Semple, as follows: —
Kaitaia to Wliangarei, via Ohaeawai and Dargavillc, 104 miles; Wliangarei to Dargavillc, 39 miles; Wliangarei to Maungaturoto, via Waipu, 41 miles; Dargavillc to Maungaturoto, 42 miles; Auckland to Helensville, 3S miles; Auckland to Maungaturoto, 75 miles. Auckland to Wellington, via New Plymouth, 409 miles; Pokeno to Wiiakatane, via Njratea and Tauranga, 105 miles; Hamilton to Paeroa, 47 miles; Hamilton to Wiiakatane, via Rotorua, 12(> miles; Gisborne to Wiiakatane, via Waioeka, 135 miles; Rotorua to Napier, via Taupo, 150 miles. Napier to Gisborne, 140 miles; Gisborne to Ruatoria, 82 miles; New Plymouth to Hawera, via Opunake, 07 miles; Te Kuiti to, Bulls, via Tauniarunui, 204 miles; Wangamil to Horopito, via Parapara, 07 miles; Napier to Wellington, via Wairarapa, 213 miles; National Park to Taupo, 07 miles; Levin to Palmerston North, via Makerua, 30 miles; Sanson to Palmerston North, 15 miles; Palmerston North to Woodville. 17 miles.
