IN AIR CRASH
Veteran Politician Receives Severe Shock. MR. W. M. HUGHES INJURED. (Received 10 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. The Federal Minister of Health and former Prime Minister, Mr. W. M. Hughes, was injured in a flying accident yesterday when a private machine, which was conveying Mr. Hughes and another passenger from Sydney to Brisbane, made a forced landing at Beaudesert, 47 miles from Brisbane, owing to ruugh weather and bad visibility. Mr. Hughes received a broken collarbone and severe shock. The pilot and the other passenger were not hurt. The wing and under-carriage of the machine were broken, A few weeks ago, Mr. Hughes was injured in a car accident. The 'plane, piloted by Mr. J. McLachlan, was flying blind for over an hour. In the landing a wing struck a fence. Mr. Hughes was admitted to hospital, but expressed himself as being thankful for his miraculous escape.
