DIAMOND WEDDING.
MAJOR AND MRS. PARKER. LONG MILITARY SERVICE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Thursday. Forty years' service as an artillery ofliccr in England and in New Zealand is recalled by the diamond wedding to be eclbbrated on Saturday by Major and Mrs. R. G. V. Parker, of Nixon Street, Hamilton East. Major Parker, who received his initial training in the Royal Garrison Artillery at Portsmouth, was specially engaged by the New Zealand Government in the 'eighties for instruction work in the Dominion. During the war lie served as a captain in the New Zealand Army Ordnance Corps, and after 40 years' service with the Army retired in 1019. He was a member of the force dispatched to prevent Tc Kooti's followers joining forces with the Hauhaus. Major Parker recently completed 50 years of Freemasonry. He was initiated "in Lodge Eden, 1880, and was appointed representative in the Grand Chapter in Washington in 1914, and is a foundation member of the Hamilton Lodge. Major and Mrs. Parker were married in England in 1870. There are seven children, 111 grandchildren and live greatgrandchildren.
