LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

TO-MORROW'S GAMES.

PONIES V. DEVONPORT. A GREAT CLASH ANTICIPATED

The finest match to date is promised patrons at Carlaw Park to-morow when the championship leaders, Devonport, and Ponsonby will meet in the main game of the day, which frill see the final series of matches in the first round of the Auckland Rugby League's senior championship played. While the seasiders were a trifle lucky to draw with Richmond last week, they will be on their„• toes against the brilliant Ponsonby thirteen. In an effort to retain their position at the head of the ladder they have secured the services of E. A. Neale, former Wellington and Auckland Rugby representative, and he should lend much needed thrust to the inside backs. Ponsonby can be relied on to make "the game willing from bell to bell, and there should not be much between the teams either way when the game is over. The curtain-raiser will be provided by Marist and Mount .Albert and here again the teams are likely to be evenly matched. Richmond and City will appear in the principal game on the No. 2 ground and honours on the run of form should rest with the former. In the early game 011 this ground Manukau will meet Newton, and in what promises to be a close contest further bright football should be served lip. The Manukau thirteen has only to play as they did last Saturday when they romped over Marist to get the verdict.
