SHIPPING NEWS.

MARIPOSA IN PORT. CANADIAN BRITISHER DUE. HUNTINGDON AT POWDER GROUND. The Matson liner Mariposa arrived sharp at 7 o'clock this morning from San Francisco, via Los Angeles, Honolulu, Pago Pago, and Suva. She brought (56 passengers for Auckland, and takes 100 from here when she sails for Sydney and Melbourne at 8 p.m. In addition she has 150 through passengers on board. The Canadian National Line steamer Canadian Britisher, .5370 tons, advises the local agents that she will arrive from Montreal at 3 a.m. tomorrow. She will later berth at the Prince's wharf, and is expected to leave for Wellington on Monday evening. After discharging she will return to Auckland from Australia about July 8. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Huntingdon, 10,946 tons, arrived off Rangitoto last night, and commenced to discharge her powder at Motuihi this morning. She is expected to berth at the Queen's wharf tomorrow afternoon.

Recorder arrived from Wellington at 7 a.m., picking up her moorings at Devonport. This may be lier last visit to Auckland for some time, as after loading cable she will go to Norfolk Island, and then to Singapore. (L.D.N.) Melbourne Maru sailed shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday for Japan, via Sydney and Brisbane. (F. Co-op.) Wiegand is discharging her cargo from Texas at the King's wharf.
