LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

AUCKLAND CONTROL BOARD

TIME CEASES WITH THE BBIX.

COMPLAINT FROM THE DOMAIN.

In the absence of Mr. G. Grey Campbell, the vice-chairman of the management committee of the Auckland Rugby League, Mr. E. J. Phelan, presided at last evening's meeting of the control board. Mr. Mincham, for the Referees' Association, stated that in future when time was up at Carlaw Park and the bell was lung, play would cease, but on outside grounds the referees had charge and the games would cease when the ball was dead, as ruled by the referee. The New Zealand Council was granted the use of Carlaw Park on July 11, the date of the inter-Island match. Applications from Manukau, Northcote and O'tahuhu for senior matches in their lespective suburbs were deferred. A complaint from the Referees' Association stating that footballers on the Outer Domain were endangered by enthusiasts in discus throwing, was referred to the City Council, as also was a report on the ground conditions at Grey Lynn Park received from Newton Rangers. Under date June S the Waikato Regimental and Hamilton Municipal Band offered to stage a quickstep on the field, or exhibition of slow marching as done at the Trooping of the Colours recently, during an interval between the AucklandMaori and Auckland-Wellington fixtures at Carlaw Park on the King's Birthday. It was decided to reply that as all the match arrangements on the park for June 23 were finalised, the board regretted that the request could not be complied with, but members of the band were extended a hearty invitation to be the guests of the Rugby League on that afternoon.
