OX BEEF VERY FIRM, AVERAGE AI/L-ROUND YARDING. The outstanding feature of to-day's sales at Westlield was a number of exceptionally heavy steers. There was an average yarding, and prices for ox beef were very firm at 27/ per 1001b, tl« same as last week. Top price was retrieved, for a line of three trucks Bold on account of ill*. George Sykes, of Taneatua. These' were the heaviest yarded for some considerable time, and brought up to £14 17/6, averaging £13 7/4. Cows and heifers were offered in big

numbers, and included, sonie choice lines, j Competition was on a .par with last | week, and late rates were fully maintained. f Brisk bidding' was experienced for s full yarding of calves, and last week's prices were easily realised. AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS. Dalgety and Company, Ltd. Beef—We yarded 239 head of beef, comprising 31 steers and 208 com and heifers, against 206 head last week. A good demand for ox resulted. in prices firming on last week, whilst for a heavy yarding of cows aud heifers the market remained unaltered. Extra choice ox sold to 27/ per lwlb; choice and prime, 23/ to 20/; secondary and plain, 18/ to 22/; prime young cot and lieifer beef, 24/ to 26/; secondary, 18/ to 23/. Heavy-prime steers ranged in price from £9 15/ to £10 17/6; lighter. £8 10/ to £9 10/; light, £7 10/ to £ 7/6; small and unfinished; £4 10/ to £5 10/. Extra heavy prime young cows ana heifers £7 to £7.10/, for cows torn Messrs. Reid Bros., Opotiki; heavy, 10/ to £0 15/; lighter, £4 to £o 5/; otllt ' killable cows,, £2 to £3 10/.
