YOUNG MAN IN HOSPITAL
GUNPOWDER EXPLODES. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) HASTINGS, this day. Severe shock and burns were suffered by Mr. "Lucky" Munro, aged 21, yester, day afternoon when he dropped a cigarette 011 to some gunpowder. He was admitted to the Hastings Mcmoria'. Hospital. Mr. Munro was employed by Mr. W Donald 011 a tree-felling and cutting contract on Mr. Athol Williams' farm at Pnkehou. He had had his lunch an.l was smoking a cigarette when the cigarette accidentally slipped from his fingers 011 to some gunpowder lying near by. 111 the explosion that followed his face and hands were fairly badly burned. The explosion was heard by Mr. Donald, who was some distance away, and he hurried back, to And his workmate writhing in pain. He summoned the school teacher, who took Mr. Munro in his car to Mrs. T. J. C. Warren's house, where he received temporary first-aid until an ambulance arrived.
