THANKED BY QUEEN.
FORMER NEW PLYMOUTH GIRL. • The unusual honour of being thanked by Queen Mary for a poem in memory of the late King George has been given Miss Olga P. Meyer, Marton, an old girl of the New Plymouth Girls' High School. On the death of the King Miss Meyer, who is the author of the schoolgirl story, "The Four of Us," which is set at "Scotlands," contributed to the "Rangitikei Advocate" a poem entitled "A Noble Life ... A Peaceful Death." A copy of the paper was forwarded to Her Majesty and the following letter, bearing the official seal, was returned in acknowledgment: — "The Privy Secretary to Her Majesty Queen Mary is commanded to thank Miss Olga P. Meyer for her kind expression of sympathy with Her Majesty in liet great sorrow."
