The monthly meeting of tlie Takapuna branch of tlie Mothers' League was held in the Memorial Hall on Monday afternoon. The vice-president, Mrs. Thompson, took the chair and the talk was given by Mr. Bae, principal of the Auckland Training College, on some of his impressions made when travelling abroad. The hostesses for the afternoon tea were Mesdames Easdown, Bennett and Goodwin. PONSONBY. The Ponsonby branch held its annual Fathers' night on Saturday, Mrs. S. 0, English presiding-. The hall was filled with members, fathers and visitors. Officers and members of the provincial executive, also representatives from other branches- were present. Mrsi F. W. Whyte, who, through illness; was unable to be present, sent greetings. Among the.visitors was Mrs. Oldfield, the first president of the Ponsonby branch. Mrs. J. W. Shaw gave an interesting address on "Scottish Humour." A splendid musical programme was presented as follows: —-Pianoforte solos, Mrs. Beg. Beed; vocal solos, Mesdames De Berg and Middleton; orchestral selections, Misses P. Munroe, B. Fenton, S. Brookes; vocal duets. Mrs. Rattray and Mr. Gemmoll; violin solos, Miss Fenton and Master -Maddaford. The accompanists were Mrs. Beed, Miss .Tean Millar and Miss Brookes. This being the tenth hi tliday of the branch, a beautifully iced cake with candles graced' the table. The ceremony of lighting the candles was carried out by members and visitors, each representing love., progress, service, hope, faith, fellowship, success, helpful-' generositjL. i
