"POOR BUSINESS."

MEETING ADJOURNED.

| TRANSPORT BOARD ANNUAL. MR. SAYEGH'S PROTEST. Vigorous objection was voiced at a meeting .of the Auckland Transport Board this morning by Mr. J. Sayegh to a further adjournment of the annual meeting of the board. Mr. Sayegh said that adjournment after adjournment was not a good way to conduct the board's business. The situation arose through the absence in Wellington of the chairman, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, AttorneyGeneral. Mr. E. J. Phelan, who had been elected acting-chairman, moved that the annual meeting should be adjourned, and called for a seconder. "I do not approve of another adjournment," said Mr. Sayegh. "That is not the proper way to conduct the business of the board. An adjournment from week to week is not in the board's best interests." He added that he would not vote against the motion this time, but that he would again. "Were the chairman to read a letter fiom Mr. Mason, the objections of Mr. Sayegh would .be met," said Mr. W. H Nagle. Mr. Sayegh; But it has been adjourned three times running, and that is poor business. Mr. Phelan read the letter from the chairman, which explained that the writer had been detained in Wellington because Parliament was sitting. The meeting, Mr. Mason assured the board, would be held next Monday without fail. Mr. Phelan added that out of respect for the chairman, the meeting should be adjourned until the following week. There were comments that the chairman might wish to make, and possibly questions he might like to answer.

The motion was passed without dissent.
