CHASE AND CAPTURE.
SHOP WINDOW BROKEN. SUSPECT BEFORE COURT. After chasing a man through streets leading off Dominion Road at 4 o'clock yesterday morning, Constable R. O. Nixon, of Mount Eden, arrested him on a charge of attempting to break into the shop of Millicent Winifred May Degenkolbe with intent to commit a crime. The constable's attention was first, attracted by a broken window in the shop. While he was inspecting it, a man suddenly ran away from near the premises. The constable gave chase and after five minutes captured the suspect in Dominion Road. This morning, Charles Frederick Stewart, labourer, aged 22, appeared on the charge, in the Police Court, before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. Senior Detective Hall obtained' a remand until June 15. Mr. J. J. Sullivan appeared on behalf of Stewart and made a request for bail. Senior Detective Hall said he would not oppose reasonable bail. Stewart was a first offender. Bail was fixed at £100. I
