JUNIOR BOARD AFFAIRS. WAIUKU TRANSFER QUESTION. The junior management committee of the Auckland Rugby League met last evening, when Mr. D. Wilkie presided, and delegates appeared from the Manukau, City Rovers, Point Chevalier, Otahuhu, R.V., Glenora, Papakura and Green Lane Clubs. The chairman congratulated the Green Lane Club on its initiative with its new ground and its facilities, which were a credit to a young club. A protest and counter-protest by Point Chevalier and Glenora. seventh grade teams were upheld and both teams lost championship points. The protest fees were returned. After hearing the Newton B third grade captain, the decision in favour of the Marist team last week was reversed and the win credited to Newton. The Waiuku delegate, Mr. Newtli, reported that the Manukau Club had approached and taken their senior B halfback, Mahema, who was at Carlaw Park 011 Saturday when he was expected to play for Waiu.cu. The speaker said that the transfer had been granted since by the club, which regretted having lost its previous match against Papakura through C. Bright not being in order. It was thought that the player, having stood down for twelve months was eligible. The club had played another former senior player, Pell, ■ last year and considered that, not having I heard to the contrary, both Bright and I Pell were in order according to grading. 1 In the match against Papakura, Bright, j the subject of protest, had only played a few minutes when he was injured and left the field. There was, moreover, 110 i score in the first spell, and it was felt ; unsporting for Pr.pakura to have protested ' under the circumstances. It was asked [ that the method of the Manukau Club in ; taking Mahema should be looked into by the senior board, as being unfair to junior , clfibs. C Mr. Wilkie pointed out it was unfortu--1 nate that the junior committee had to rule 1 according to the constitution and award the match to Papakura on a technicality. Bright was certainly a free agent, having stood down for the period stated, but, nevertheless, required regrading before he could play for Waiuku, which club thus suffered in ignorance. Mr. Newtli slid the Waiuku Club did not desire to hold up the transfer of • Mahema, which was accordingly approved, but desired to bring to the notice of the ' senior board the peculiar circumstances under which the transfer was effected. Several players were dealt with judicially, a third grade player being suspended i for two playing Saturdays and a senior B player, a first offender, severely cau- " tioned. Two cases were adjourned for further evidence, one involving interfer- ■ ence on the field by a coach. s Transfers. —H. S. E. Turner, Point Chevalier senior B to Newton senior reserves; J.
