LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

AUCKLAND CONTROL BOARD. conference with Club DELEGATES. COUNCIL AND REPLACEMENT RULE The control board of the Auckland Jhigby League last evening, Mr. G. Grey Campbell presiding, held its first conference of the season with club delegates, subsequent to dealing with routine business.

The New Zealand Council wrote regretting -that the Auckland League did not give the non-replacement rule a trial. It did not seem, added the letter, to detract from the interests of club and spectator in New South Wales and Queensland, where the rule had been in operation over- a long period, and had proved successful. It was hoped the League would keep in mind the possibility of giving the-rule a trial.

Mr. W. Mincham was deputed to act on the Referees' Appointment Board for Mr. L. G. Binns when the latter found it inconvenient to attend. The Referees' Association advised that Mr. Freeman Thompson had been appointed to its executive. It was decided to make spefiisl provision for covering No. 2 ground fence to mitigate the possibility of injury to players. The board decided to make its usual donation to the St. John Ambulance Association and to consider a further donation later in the season. An application from the Devonport Club regarding ambulance service at North Shore was deferred for inquiry. The Auckland Ladies' Hockey Association applied for the assistance of the League in connection with the staging of a match against the Fijian ladies' team to visit New Zealand in July-August. It was desired to play the game as a curtainraiser to the main football game on the day. August 15 was a date suggested. I* was decided to advise the Hockey Association that owing to the-, important procrannne operating this season and the tact that the English team would be in .New Zealand in the period suggested, the board could not entertain the proposition. Messrs. R. Doble, W. Mincham, and J. W. Probert were appointed to weigh au senior teams in playing togs at Car law Park on Saturday. _\n A and B trial and an Auckland v.
