BEQUEST TOO LATE.
THAMES PRIEST'S ESTATE. SWORN AT UNDER £13,000. The estate of the late Father Ferdinand Joseph Dignan, Roman Catholic parish priest of Thames, has been sworn for probate at under £13,000. Father Dignan died 011 March 17, St. Patrick's Day. A curious circumstance is revealed by the Auckland firm of solicitors who handled the estate, in that both he late Father Dignan's brothers died in Ireland within a period of twelve, months prior to his death. One brother, Mr. Philip Dignan, died only seven days before the priest, to whom he bequeathed a Jjreat p ar f. jjjg estate, but Father Dignan was dead before advice of the large bequest was received in New Zealand. Tims, Father Dignan, whose will was made several years ago, died believing himself possessed of only a small sum. Beneficiaries under the will are his sister and her children, who reside in Ireland, and legatees will receive £300 for charitable purposes. This includes £50 for the church building fund at Thames.
