ULSTER CONTRIBUTES.
£400,000 for British Defence Programme. BUDGET SURPLUS SHOWN. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON May 14. The Ulster Budget provides £400,000 towards the British defence programme. Mr. H. D. Pollock, introducing the Budget, said that all loyal people in the province desired to make a substantial contribution. The Budget showed revenue £13,280,000 and expenditure £12,824,000, leaving a balance of £450,000, supplemented by £94,000 from the unemployment fund. The Government proposed to restore cuts in the salaries of members of Parliament, and the civil service, and 3| per cent of the cuts on elementary school teachers.
