RENT RESTRICTIONS.
I would like to know what !Mr. Savage means by saying rents must not be raised above normal times. He also states that "the landlords won their first round, but we, the Government, will win all the rest." I am the owner of a house and was receiving £2 12/" per week twelve years ago and at the present time I am receiving £1 10/. Mr. Savage refers to landlords raising rents which on the average have not been raised more than 2/(> to 5/ per week. All through the depression rents have been reduced so low that in a great many cases landlords have not been able to pay their rates and repairs. Also some tenants have vacated houses, leaving rent in arrears, and now when one should get a little increase in rent to make up for what has been lost Mr. Savage states that rents must not be raised. XOKMAL TIMES.
