OLD AGE PENSIONS.
I agree with "M.P." and '•'■Civis" that the promise made at election time about the restoration of cuts in pensions certainly went a long way to secure votes for the Labour party, and I think it would .have been a wise and humane step to attend to this matter before restoring cuts to many of those in good positions. There is another, even greater, hardship to a certain portion of the community, and another promise which without doubt helped many members to top the poll. I refer to people of 00 to 05 years, particularly men, many of whom have worked hard in their younger days and now are quite unfit to carry on labouring work. Others of them were prosperous until the depression came and crushed them. What can be done for these people? Xo one wishes to employ old men in these modern days. Xo light" work is offering, and there is 110 pension—will our members of Parliament forget their promise of last election? CURIOUS.
