LABOUR DEPARTMENT. AUCKLAND ADMINISTRATION. A decision to request the Minister of Labour, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, to institute an inquiry into the administration of the Labour Department at Auckland was reached at a meeting last evening of the Auckland Trades f.nd Labour Council. Mr. H. Campbell, the secretary of the council, stated this morning that there had been quite a lot of dissatisfaction expressed concerning the administration of the Department locally. One complaint was that the Department collected the full wages due to men in certain trades but in many of those instances did not prosecute the employers for alleged breaches of awards. The council was anxious to spr that awards were I observed.
