WRESTLING.

MEHRINGER BEATS BLOMFIELD. I (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") HAMILTON, this day. Introduced into professional wrestling by the New Zealander "Lofty" Blomfield for the first time last evening, during the bout with Pete Mehringer, the "octopus, clamp" left no doubts in the minds of spectators as to its effectiveness. After Blomfield had secured a submission fall there was a minor demonstration by the audience, as lie did not immediately break the hold. Mehringer also secured a fall, and was awarded the match on a-points decision.

FORSGREN BEATS RUSSELL,

MASTERTON, Thursday. In a wrestling bout to-night Forsgren defeated Russell by a fall with a Boston crab in the fifth round of an exciting contest. Russell was popular, the crowd cheering in the last round when he secured four Indian deathlocks, but every time his opponent scrambled to the ropes. At the end of the match the winner was hooted and the loser cheered.

SAVAGE V OSWALD.

Steve Savage, who will make his first New Zealand appearance at the Town Hall, Auckland, to-morrow night, against Hank Oswald, boasts the distinction of having beaten Dan Koloff. As may be inferred from this, Savage is rated among the first flight of wrestlers in America. He is an exceptionally powerful man of 16.0, and Oswald, experienced and versatile wrestler that he is, will have to be in his very best form. The match should be fast and thrilling.
