RARE HONOUR.
CONFERRED ON AUCKLANDER. With liis admission as an associate member of the Institution of Naval Architects, Mr. A. J. Collings, of the firm of Collings and Bell, boatbuilders, St. Mary's Bay, has received an honour rare among New Zealanders. The institution is the only one of its kind in the world, and there are only about 2000 members and associate members. Founded in 1800 to promote the improvement of ships, tlie institution aims at bringing together the results of the experience of men whose careers are connected with the sea.
