LEADING SIDES MEET. marist and ponsonby. MANUKAU AT EDEN PARK. The two leading teams in the Auckland Rugby Union's first division competition will meet at Eden Park to-morrow after- , noon, when Marist Old Boys tackle Ponsonby. Both sides have been well handled by the respective coaches, "Paddy Sheehan (former Otago Ranfurly Shield • skipper) and "Charlie" Lonergan (a leading Hawke's Bay referee up to 1931) who has returned to his native city. In the curtain-raiser Manukau will be making its first appearance at headquarters I this season, having tied (five all) with Grammar Schools' Old Boys a fortnight . ago at Onehunga, and drawing the bye last week. The opposing fifteen is the champion team, Technical Old Boys. There are two other major fixtures arranged for Eden Park at three o clock. 'Varsity v. College Rifles (No. 3) and Grammar v. Grafton (No. 2). Training College journeys to bturges Park to meet Otahuliu, while North Shore, the bye team, will play a friendly game with Takapuna, at the latter s ground.
