RACING AT WAIPA.

THE WINTER MEETING. FIELDS FOR TO-MORROW. THE FORM REVIEWED. The winter meeting of the Waipa Racing Club will be held at Te Awamutu to-morrow, and with fine weather there should be a large attendance, for good fields are carded for the various events. The course, as the result of rain on Thursday, was heavy, but if the weather remains fine the going should be in fairly good order. The betting will he on the win and place system. The Hack Hurdles. Sixteen have been accepted for in the Hack Hurdles. Modern Maid showed winning form at Te Rapa and Tauranga, while she was second to King Mestor at Avondale. Clan Ronald has not much to his credit recently, but Roxy was a winner, over steeples, at Ellerslie and was placed in hurdle events at Whangarei and Tauranga. Racewhip was second to Master Musk over hurdles at Te Arolia and was, third to Count Roussillion and Modern Maid at Tauranga. Lucidus can jump, and he will only need to stay on to have a show. Teddy Boy has shown great promise in his schooling efforts at Ellerslie, while Grand Score had racing experience over hurdles at Taranaki at Christmas time, finishing fourth on one occasion. Sporting Song was fourth in a much stronger class at Hawera last week and is a likely improver, while Chief Lap has been schooling well at Takanini. A trio that may be fancied are

RACEWHIP GRAND SCORE LUCIDUS. A Big Field. The Trial Handicap has attracted the largest field of the day. Full of Scotch, it is stated, will not run. Little Ruse was second to Matorn in the second division of the Awa-iti Handicap, five furlongs, at Paeroa recently, while Johnny Walls showed winning form as a two-year-old last season, while he was fourth at Paeroa recently. Illumani was a winner over five furlongs at the Ngaruawahia non-tote meeting last March and has been galloping well at Ellerslie. Cyllaros was third to Matoru and Little Ruse at Paeroa, but failed recently .at Avondale. Stormy Weather was fourth over six furlongs at Waikato and may be the best of the others. A preference may be shown for LITTLE RUSE ILLUMANI -' — ■ CYLLAROSr" - The Steeplechase. Fourteen .figure in the Park Hack and Hunters' Steeplechase. King's Archer, Master Musk, Arctic Star and Emancipation have proved themselves good hurdlers, but havei yet to race over country, though Emancipation schooled well over the big fences at Te Awamutu yesterday. Ihe Hiker is also a winner over, the battens, but has yet to be tried seriously over the big fences. En Tour, won the last Waikato Hunt Cup,'while Windsor Lad was third in the Farmers' Steeplechase, run on the same day. Cromwell was a good performer over steeples last season, while he was successful at Paeroa earlier m the; season and ran well for a . good way in. the Autumn Steeplechase afe'Ellerslie on Easter Monday last. He won *he Foley Memorial, one mile and a quarter, at Avondale, beating _ Galilee v (7.9) by a length, while Gay Rose (8.4), A elocipede (7.13) and Bonny Gay .Yf-f? unplaced. On the second day. Scotland won from Gay Rose (7.11) was fourth and Sinking Fund (8.11) unplaced. Gay Rose has been working well at Te Aroha recently. Velocipede won twice over a mile and a quarter at Whangarei last month. Delram was successful in the Titirangi Handicap,-one mile at Avondale and was second in the side Handicap to Crooning over a similar distance. Leo Colossus ran two good races -at Hawera last week, finishing second tp Boomerang over seven furlongs on the first day, and second to Hunting Queen over nine, furlongs. Mangukaha has won at Mata mata and Tauranga this season while she was second to Grateful at Waikato. Black Thread has some good performances to_his credit at Manawatu and Hastings, ilign-: Tea won over seven furlongs at Avpnclale, beating Sebrof and Dark Shadow. Ihe lastnamed is also engaged and should go well. Lion Heart has been galloping well at Te Rapa, while Matoru was a winner at Paeroa and made a bold showing at Avondale. Arctic Star, who is top-weight in tbe Orakau Hurdles, is also engaged in the steeplechase, but if reserved for this, event will go well. Prince of Orange is stated t.o be going well at Te Rapa, while Golden England was third and fourth respectively in his two hurdle engagements at Avondale.
