MOVIE BALL.
PAPATOETOE FUNCTION. Over tlireo hundred dancers were present at the annual ball of the Pap-i----toetoe Hockey Club, which was held in the Public Hall, Papatoetoe, on Wednesday evening. The function took ths form of a movie and Hollywood masquerade and the colourful costumes and the decorations in red and black streamers and posters gave the hall a festive air. The judges for the costumes were Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Nicholson, Mrs. W. W. Massey, Mrs. A. G. Grinter, Mrs. J. J. Valentine and Mr. V. M. Tracey. Prizes were awarded to Miss Targett (Jeanette Mac Donald), best lady; Air. R. Halsey (the Invisible Man), best gentleman; Miss F. Kitto (Aunt Delilah), mo-! orginal lady; Miss Wliitten and Mr. J. Cosey (Barretts of Wimpole Street), best couple; Miss M. Phillips and Mr. 13. G. Warner (Faust and Satan), most original couple; Mr. J. Ranum and Mr. C. Ford (Amos V Andy), most original gentlemen. The function owed much of its success to the ladies' committee, which included Mesdames B. Hounslow, A. J. Collings, W. Kerr, Lusby, L. Cocks, Trounson, Misses R. Burnside, M. Waters, Hughes and P. Nicholls. Enjoyable dance music was supplied by Dave O'Malley's orchestra. Those present included: Mesdames W. W. Massey, W. J. Nicliolson, A. 0. Grinter, R. Parker-Hill, J. J. Valentine, O. B. Snelling, Kerr, B. Hounslow, A. J. Collings, Lusby, L. Cocks, Trounson, Waite, M. Beagley, Wigney, J. Kitto, L. Monteith, Pravis (Melbourne), R. Targett, Misses M. Waters, D. Grinter, F. Stonex, McLeod, E. Urwin, J. Watson. J. Chamberlain, E. Grinter, N. Johns, M. Orr, G. McKay, B. Stonex, M. Patterson, Kennerly, Reynolds, H. Smith, M. Brewer.
