OPOTIKI CLUB.
THE FIRST MEET. OPOTIKI, this day. The first meet of the newly-formed Opotiki Hunt was held yesterday in fine •weather, there being a very large attendance. The opening ceremony took place at the club's kennels near Waioweka Bridge. The president, Mr. X. V. Hodgson, thanked all present, especially those from Whakatane and other outside districts. Mr. J. H. Reid, the club's patron, explained that under the Rotorua Club, Opotiki did not have enough meets. The thanks of the club was due to the Mayor, who provided practically half the cost of the kennels, also the Gisborne, Cambridge, Dannevirke and Maramarua clubs for providing hounds. The Mayor, Mr. G. I. Moody, congratulated the club on organising their own kennels and hounds. The hunt then moved to Woodlands, where the first meet was held.
