MANGERE INTERESTS.
RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATION. The monthly meeting of the Mangere East Ratepayers' and Progressive Association was held in the Public Hall onMonday evening, the chairman, Mr. R. A. Enting, presiding over a good attendance of members. Mr. Trayes gave a report on various matters affecting the council. The side roads generally were in good order. Special mention was made regarding the adoption , of the automatic telephone system, it being revealed that this would be impracticable. It was stated that there were now no relief camps in the county, the number of men engaged on relief work in the riding being 33. • The secretary was instructed to write to the council complaining of the repeated failure of the street lighting, and also to prtes strongly for an additional street light on the corner of First and Third Avenues. Numerous complaints had bee-n made regarding the action of the grader tearing up the metal on Earlsworth Road and First Avenue. Sir. Trayes undertook to look into this matter.
