■\ !' f A meeting of the Auckland Women's ]■< Christian Temperance Union was held 'A ill the social room Y.W.C.A., on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. John Cook presided. Mrs. Stimpson conducted the devotional session and gave an impressive address on "Rest." A vote of sympathy was passed to the relatives of the ji '' late Rev. W. J. Williams, and a tribute '4 was paid to the splendid work he done in the temperance cause. A report* of the meeting of the National Council of Women was given by Mrs. Cook. An inspiring address on the work of v'i the British and Foreign Bible Society was given by Miss Spencer, the acting.' ; organiser for the Auckland province, v She spoke of the Bible depots at Cairo, Port Said and Jerusalem, and of the 4 work carried on by the colporteurs.
