SUDDEN DEATH.

LEAGUE CLUB FOUNDER. Tll the excitement which followed the win of the new Manukau senior team against Richmond in the League match at Carlaw Park on Saturday afternoon, Mr. Albert Cowan, of Onehunga, the founder of the winning team, died suddenly. Mr. Cowan had just entered the dressing room to convey his congratulation? to members of the team when he collapsed. A doctor was called and he was given every attention, but when taken to the Auckland Hospital by the St. John Ambulance life was pronounced extinct.

Players and patrons were distressed when the news was confirmed, and were lowered to half-mast.

Mr. Cowan, who was born at Port Chalmers, resided at Selwvn Street South. Onehunga, - and is survived by Mrs. Cowan, a son who is an invalid and two daughters. For some years he had <» business in the city, but for the past seven years he has owned a billiard saloon at Onehunga. Mr. Cowan had been a keen stalwart of the Rugby League code for many years, and was responsible for the organisation of the Ellerslie and Otahuhu clubs when Fllerslie attained senior rank.
