SHIPLOVERS' SOCIETY.
AKAROA TO THE. CHATHAMS. At the monthly meeting of the Auckland Shiplovers' Society, held in the Mission to Seamen's Hall last evening, Mr. R. A. Fallci showed a series of films depicting the Chathams and incidents on H.M.S. Leith on a cruise from Akaroa to the Chatham Islands and back to Wellington. The rugged nature of the coast line and the scrubby country were plainly shown; also the method of embarking in a dray which was taken out into the surf by two horses, where passengers transferred to surf boats. Other views included a series taken on the Auckland waterfront and the departure of the ship Joeeph Conrad. A film lent by one of the ship's crew showed the vessel at sea, on her way from Melbourne to Auckland last February. Captain H. H. Sergeant, who presided, thanked Mr. Falla for his interesting views: also Mr. K. W. Smith, who gave an exhibition of. conjuring. Among those present were Commodore the Hon. E. R. Drumrnorid, of H.M.S. Diinedin, and Miss Drummond. and Captain Upton, of- theDurham. Supper, was provided by members of the . Harbour- LigHts Guild. ■■■■<■-■
