OFFENCES AGAINST CHILDREN.

May we add our pleas to "Vigilant's" for tho protection of little children? Within the last month two men in our district alone have been put away with very light sentences for offences against little girls. In a short time they will be at liberty again to continue their fiendish practices. A few months ago a little girl of eleven was ruined for life., and*- can never be a mother, because of the same thing, and we are warned by the Police Department to "hush it up and say nothing." What do they think mothers are ? My experience of the fathers is on a par with the police warning. A father I know thrashed his little girl unmercifully < because a big boy assaulted her, and continues his friendship unabated with the two fiends who taught this boy his filth, the boy got off scot free. The one who caused the inquiry is reviled, and no shame felt except in being found out! And the souls of little children are placed in jeopardy and their bodies wrecked, and yet people say, "Hush it up and smooth it over!" It is high time [ the mothers got on the warpath and took the law into their own hands to make the world safe for little children. When Christ cleaned up the Temple, He took off His ooat, rolled up his sleeves, and made a whip of cords—He didn't cross over to the other side and iiretend Tie had not seen the sacrilege. The children's playground in our district should more rightly be called "Man's Hell Hole." Even in daylight it is not safe, and at night time it is a place of horror. Complaints have been made again and again, but they are brushed aside and "hushed up." Wake up, mothers, buckle on your armour and make the world safe for little helpless children. |
