STOP SPECULATION

STEPS IN LONDON.

N.Z. NOTIFIES MERCHANTS,

AGREEMENTS LAPSE IN JULY. I

(Received 11 a.m.)

LONDON, April 30.

The "Daily Herald" (Labour) says the London office of the New Zealand Dairy Control Board, has notified 30 Tooley Street merchants who have had a virtual monoply of New Zealand butter and cheese marketed through London, that all agreements will lapse on July 31. Thereafter only firms prepared to •undertake not to speculate in New Zealand butter and cheese, and to work strictly to the agreed commission on a turnover basis, will be allotted supplies. It is estimated that 30 firms concerned share £400,000 a year in commission for passing on New Zealand's shipments to larger wholesalers. Most of the firms say they are ready to accept the new conditions. Others are certain to be eliminated.
