TREES AND SHELTER.

I notice by your paper that the OneTumga Borough Council has been asked to erect a shelter over the seat by the Anglican Church. Until a week ago there was a beautiful evergreen tree sheltering this seat. Could not I the council ask permission to plant another tree instead? It, would be an ornament to tlie town. 1. with many others, think it was a calamity to have destroyed such a beautiful and useful tree. Councillors in the past admired this tree so much that when they built the rockery they placed a very comfortable seat with a handsome back under it, making it the very prettiest spot in the town. The church, in my opinion, looks bleak and bare now that its adornment has gone. I trust our Mayor and councillors will do their utmost to plant a similar tree over the 3eat. I lie tree flowered for many weeks and was worthy of its position. ARBOR.
