Mr. J. W. Fletcher arrived by train from the South this morning. Mr. F. J. Nathan arrived in Auckland from the South by this morning's Limited express. • Mr. A. Turner and Mr. E. Turner returned to Auckland this morning by train after a visit to the South. Mr. T. U. Wells, chairman of the Auckland Education Board, arrived in Auckland this morning by train from the South. Mr. W. H. P. Erson will be a passenger by the Mariposa this evening for Australia. He intends to visit Sydney and Melbourne. Dr. Minnie Varley, of Nelson, Dominion president of the Christian Endeavour movement, was welcomed at a rally of the Auckland District Union last night. Mr. J. P. Kalaugher, secretary of the New Zealand Friesian Association, accompanied by Mrs. Kalaugher, leaves for Sydney "to-night by the Mariposa en route to Great Britain and the Continent. Mr. R. G. Sheplieard, of J. Ilott, Limited, Auckland, has arrived in Christchurch to take over the management of J. Ilott, Limited, Christchurch, in succession to Mr. W. J. Smythe, who is retiring. Dr. A. C. Blau, Swiss Consul in New Zealand for the past three years, will leave for Australia to-night by the' Mariposa. He is returning to Switzerland owing to the temporary closing of the consulate. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dundas arrived by the Mariposa this morning. Mr. Dundas is vice-president of the Standard Vacuum Oil Company, New York, and is on a business trip to the Dominion and Australia. Mr. W. F. Herrick, general secretary of the New Zealand Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association, is visiting Wellington for the association's annual conference, which opened there on Wednesday. Colonel A. Oldfield, a well-known English angler, has returned to Auckland after a visit to the South Island and a fishing trip to Turangi. He is at Hotel Stonehuret, and will return on another fishing trip to the Tongariro River next week. Mr. A. J. Learmonth, of Auckland, who hae been engaged on the construction of the Lower Zambesi bridge, Portuguese East Africa, hopes to be in New Zealand for Christmas, but he may first go to London. He will remain in Africa until the clearing up operations are completed.

Mr. T. T. N. Coleridge, son of Mr. E. W. G. Coleridge, of Wellington, has returned to New Zealand after gaining four years' experience in his profession with the Austin Motor Company ana the Shell Oil Company, with some time at the Ricardo Engine Research Vi Mr. Coleridge has taken up a position with the Shell Company of New Zealand.
