SOCCER GAMES.
INFORMAL OPENING. BLANDFOBS PARK FIXTURES. INTERESTING PRACTICE GAMES. While there will be a general resumption of activities in the local Soccer world to-morrow afternoon in the form of practice games, set fixtures have been arranged for Blandford Park, there being two matches commencing at 1.30 and 3 p.m. respectively. The first game will be between Eastern Suburbs and the Philomel eleven, two of the teams of the senior second division. The suburbanites have a strong side this season, and should give a good account of themselves. It was rumoured earlier in the year that most of their prominent players of the past two seasons had "migrated" to pastures new. but the club recently was reformed, and those members who had intended to play for other clubs have- returned to the fold. The team is imbued with the objective of rewinning a position in the first division. The Philomel eleven has several newcomers to Auckland Soccer, and their bow to the public should provide added interest. The 3 o'clock match will reveal what Thistle and Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys have in stock for this season's operations. The teams were very evenly matched last season, and their meeting even in the practic game will be welcomed by followers. Teams selected: — Thistle.—Hunter, Wright, Williams. Watson. W. Kennedy, Wiseman, Wood, Dunsmorc, Angus. Nicol. Newman. Other players, Outer Domain, 3 o'clock. Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys.— Warren, G. Holdsworth. R. Shaw, A. Turley, Ward, 11. Ilorrocks, Noedham, Spencer, .Tepson, F.vfie, J. Woods. Other club members practise Fowlds' Park, 1.45 p.m.
