FAREWELL LUNCHEON
SWISS CONSUL. A representative gathering of Swiss citizens took place yesterday at tlie tea rooms of the Farmers' Trading Company to bid farewell to their consul, Dr. A. C. Blau, who has been recalled to Switzer- > land after several years' service. Mr. E. Merz, chairman of the Swiss . Benevolent vSociety, expressed on behalf ; of the Swiss residing in New Zealand, j the very deep regret felt at losing Dr. | Blau's esteemed help and leadership, j Various speeches were made by other members of the community and Miss M. Keller made a presentation on behalf of the. Swiss of a fine travelling rug, and a box of inlaid' native wood. Dr. Blau I replied briefly, expressing his sorrow at parting with'tlie many friends and compatriots he had in this country. Those present were: Mesdames E. Merz, Alfred Suter, J. W.
