Grey Campbell, at the ■nnual' meeting of the League last evening. There was a largo attendance of oflicials, representing all units of the organisation, and members. The usual tributes were naid to the memory of two pioneers, Mr. tames Carlaw. Mr. A. Freeman, and to other supporters who had died during the past twelve months. Mr. Walmsley Honoured. A hearty welcome was extended to Mr. Harold Walmsley, who for several years had been an invalid and is now able to walk "The wish for his restoration to health recorded in our minutes last year has been amazingly realised," said the chairman, "and it gives us all pleasure to sec here smiling and well our heroic friend and far-famed donor of original and much-prized trophies. We have reserved for him the honour of kicking off for us at the opening of the season." Later in the evening Mr. Walmsley was heartily thanked for his twenty-first trophy to the game. This is to be known as the Traev Inglis football, the donor's compliment to Dr. Inglis, who has been prominently associated with the game in Auckland as* a medical officer. Mr. Walmsley took the opportunity of thanking tho authorities and supporters for their kindness to him during his lengthy iudisposiCampbell, emphasising a need for the continuance of the growing spirit of eo-operation, goodwill and harmony which had been a feature of the code's progress in recent years, appealed for further planning ahead and up-to-date methods of training and management by the clubs as « basis for metropolitan, provincial, national and international play and success. (Applause.) The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. It was announced that the season would «pen with a club day ou the 18th instant, and the Control Board had decided to donate a substantial portion of the gate revenue to the fund for J. Laird, the Marist international player, who is still convalescing from injury received in New Zealand against Australia last yeai. The national body is to be asked to subsidise the Auckland Leagues contribution to the player.
