A number of senior teams trained at 1 Carlaw Park on Saturday, and a good deal jof interest was shown in tlio number of new players. Indications are for on increase in senior team strength all round. At FowldeJ Park. Morningsidc. Mount Albert, through their forward superiority, beat Ponsonby 11—8 in the first trial match of the yeason before a good crowd. A collection was taken up in aid of the i'onsonby Carnival Fund. The Devonport Club had a big muster of players at the home ground. H. Simpson, the representative forward, had the misfortune to injure his whoulde- and was removed to the Auckland Hospital.
