JUNIOR CONTROL BOARD.
NEW POINTS SHIELD SUGGESTED.
At the meeting of the junior board of the Auckland Rugby League last evening a Point Chevalier delegate, who. said his club hoped to enter seven teams this season, pointed out that the Davis Points Shield for aggregate club points was difficult to win by junior clubs not having senior teams. He suggested that an additional trophy should be open to competition and eonfincd to junior clubs. . The secretary, Mr. W. F. Clarke, said that he considered that that was the original intention of the donor of the Davis Shield, but the senior clubs were eventually admitted. . , Members heartily approved the i oint Chevalier suggestion as one which would be an incentive for district clubs without The recommendation of the Referees Association inviting clubs to appoint umpires to co-operate on outer grounds, was adopted, with a provision that the names of those selected be submitted to the management. , . , ~ The Green Lane Club advised that it now had a ground of its own and intended to hold a local opening day on May -- The application was formally received and referred to the notice of the omciai grounds allocator. , Glenora Club notified its intention to field a seventh grade team, and among matters sent to the senior board was tne balance-sheet of the Northcote and Birkenhead Ramblers Club showing that during last year over £5S was handled and the club had a credit balance of £18. There were 15 new player registrations.
