ENGLISH LEAGUE TEAM.

REPLACED BY GWYNNE DAVIS. BROUGH WILL BE CAPTAIN. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, March 18. Gwynne Davies (Wigan), centre threequarter, replaces J. Sullivan in the English Rugby League side for Australia. Brough has 'been appointed captain. Sullivan withdrew from the side owing to his wife's illness. Davies, when playing for Cardiff, represented Wales for three seasons in Rugby Union internationals of 1928-0-30.

Jim Sullivan (Wigan) had visited New Zealand with three teams, the first in 1924, and twice as captain. Jim Brough (Leeds), like Sullivan, is a full-back, but can play well at threequarter. He was custodian for England against the 1924 All Blacks.

INCREASE OF GRADE TEAMS. The annual meeting of the Ellerslie United Club held in the Parish Hall drew the largest attendance for several years, Mr. J. Melnnarney presiding. Among those present were Mr. D. Wilkie, of the Auckland Control Board, and chairman of the junior management, and Messrs. E. Chapman and I. Stonex, of the latter body. The annual report gave a full account of the year's work and play by the third and fifth grade teams and the schoolboys, the fifths having been runners-up in both the championship and knock-out. A very satisfactory position was disclosed by the balance-sheet, and it was announced that the club hoped to enter teams this year in the second and seventh grade competitions. Officers were elected as follows: — Patron, Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P.; president, Mr. J. Melnnarney; '/ice-presidents, Messrs. R. Mclsaacs, A. Chapman, J. Miller, F. E. Woodhanis and J. Court, with power to add; club captain, Mr. F. Chapman; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr. G. Whaley; committee, Messrs. 0. .D. Slye (chairman), J. Pinches, J. Ryan, R. Hunter," S. Pemberton, J. Welsh, H. Thomas, J. Crawford, A. Britton, T. Bevan and A. Tobin; hon. auditor, Mr. J. Carr.
