Mr. Harvey managing director of Turners and Growers, Limited, has returned to Auckland after a short business visit to Suva.

Mr. C. S. McDonald, sales director tor Aspro, Limited, Melbourne, accompanied by Mrs. McDonald, arrived in Auckland yesterday by the 'Monowai.

Flying-Officer D. W. Morrisli, Reserve of Officers, Air Force, will be a passenger for Sydney to-night by the Niagara. He is on his way to England.

Mr. F. M. Hills, a director of Thompson and Hills, Limited, accompanied by his wife and daughter, will leave for Sydney this evening by the Niagara. Sir Henry Horton has been granted nine months' leave of absence by the Auckland University College Council. ITe is soon to leave on a trip abroad. Mr. A. L. Armstrong, acting-Colonial Secretary for Fiji, and Mrs. Armstrongarrived by the Niagara yesterday. They intend to spend a holiday in the Dominion.

Mr. A. H. Gaze, manager for the British Phosphate Commission, has arrived in Auckland on a business visit to the Dominion. He will remain abjut a fortnight.

Mr. A. Rosser, one of the Auckland delegates to the annual conference of the New Zealand Federation of Justices of the Peace, left for Wellington by yesterday afternoon's express. Mr. H. A. Yockney, town clerk at Onehunga, was granted six months' leave of absence at a meeting of the council held last evening. Mr. Yockney intends to visit Britain.

Mr. H. W. Brodie, overseas passerigef manager of the Canadian Pacific Railway, accompanied by Mrs. Brodie, will leave for Sydney this evening after an extended tour of New Zealand.

Mr. D. Lake, of Sydney, Australian and New Zealand distribution manager for Metro-Goklwyn-Meyer, Limited, was a passenger from Sydney by the Monowai yesterday. He is at the Grand Hotel.

Mr. W. Wynne, secretary and manager of tlie Australian Associated Press, accompanied by Mrs. Wynne, arrived by the Monowai yesterday ancl wiii go on to Wellington on the ship. They are paying a short visit to the Dominion. Mr. M. F. Kline, publicity manager of the Osaka Shosen Kaislia, and editorcompiler of the company's "Guide for Shippers and Traivllers," arrived by the Monowai yesterday and intends to spend about a fortnight in the Dominion. Mr. Ivanlioc Haytnan, of the staff of the Canterbury University College, lias been appointed to a position on the staff of the Seddon Memorial Technical College, in the science and mathematics department. Mr. W. it. Smyth, of Auckland, has been appointed a relieving master in English until 1037.
