NORRIE BELL'S RECORD.
OUTSTANDING IN BOTH SPORTS.
It must be unique in the annals of sport for a player to be runner-up in the national championships of two such diversified sports as golf and bowls in the one year. Yej, this was the experience of Nome Bell, jun., now professional to the North Shore Golf Club. Although lie has not been successful in winning a New Zealand golf title, Bell subsequently carried off the Dominion bowling singles. His record reads: —
1927: Runner-up New Zealand bowling singles to H. C. Clarke at Auckland. 1927: Runner-up New Zealand doubles bowling championship with N. Bell, sen., to Max Walker and A. Brackebusli at Auckland.
1927: Runner-up New Zealand open golf to E. J. Moss at Hamilton. 1929: Runner-up New Zealand golf professional foursomes championship at Wanganui.
1930: Runner-np New Zealand, golf professional foursomes at Palmerston North. 1931: At age of 32 won New Zealand singles bowling championship at Auckland, beating A. Parsons in final. 1933: Won New Zealand golf professional foursomes at Auckland. 1934: Runner-up New Zealand open golf championship at War.ganui to A. J. Shaw. 1935: Runner-up New Zealand golf professional foursomes championship at Christcliurcli. , Other Golf Successes. Won Hamilton Golf Club championship seven years, 1921-27. Won Wiaikato close championship seven years, 1921-27. Won South Auckland open championship five years, 1921-27. Won Rotorua open golf championship, 1925. ~ t Bowling Performances. Won Hamilton Club , championship, 1925, 1927, 1928, 1930, 1931. Won Takapuha. Club championship, 1932, 1933. South Auckland champion of champions, 1930; runner-up, 1931. Won Auckland pro-incial open singles championship, 1932.
