HEALTHY POSITION REVEALED
TRAINING TO START SATURDAY.
■ Over. 60 members anil,friends attended tho annual meeting of the M° ullt , Club at the. King George Hall, Mount Albert, last evening, when Mr A. o. Gallagher presided and extended a lieJ y welcome to all. He paid a tribute to success of the senior team 111 its year, contending that, byit ror a .F*. match w'itli Devonport at a critical stage, the club might lrave created a worlds 'record in the game, by -winping a semo premiership in its first year. • . The eighth report referred to the ncel for more attention to building up the junior grades as desired throughout to district. The supporters club, under the chairmanship of Mr. J- Kay and societaliship of Mr. C. Parvin, had done good work. Five teams had been entered by the club in-the A.K.L. competitions, lne seniors, coached by. J. Johnson, with selector, Mr. T. Haddon, was beaten by Richmond for the championship, in the I'll el an Shield by Ponsonby, but was successful in winning the lhistle Cup lot most points in the championship second round, losing only one game. Journeying to Taradale, Napier, the club defended possession of the I.X.L. inter-club cup in a harder contest than tho previous yew. The medal for best forward went to it. Flannagan and for the most improved bacK to B. Shultz. R. Morrissey won Mr. Oates cap for best goal kicker. The reserve grade team put up some creditable performances, and M. Mayn won the trophy for most improved player. J. Davies won the medal presented by Mrs. Hen lon tor best all-round player in the second grade, V. Haswell won Mrs. C. Parvin s trophy for the fourth grade, while tho fifth gi'ad l2 team did well as a very young side, Ihe club thanked the coaches, selectors and i team managers, and also the commit tee, St. John Ambulance and supporters. Ihe i club was in a strong financial position, with a credit balance of over £'30. Officers were elected as follow: —I atron, Mr. R. Ferner. Mayor of Mount Albert; vice-patron, Mr. A. S. Richards, M.lr. * i president, Mr. A. C. Gallagher; vicepresidents. last vear's. with power to add; Secretary, Mr. H. G. Shaw: treasurer Mr. B. W. Davis: club captain, Mr. F. Martin: auditor, Mr. -T. C. Johnstone. Special votes of tlianks were accorded tho secretary. Mr. H. G. Shaw. Mr.- r. Mooney (retiring secretary) and to tne president. . ~ , Clarrie "McNeil, the wing three-quarter, was thanked for his relaying support prior to his departure for Wellington. _ _ Tt was decided to start club training for all grades at the Morningside ground on Saturday. '
