MERCER REGATTA.

KEEN RACING EXPECTED. SPLENDID ENTRIES RECEIVED. To-morrow the Mercer Regatta -will claim the attention of all Auckland oarsmen at Mercer, when an exceptionally attractive set of class racing, including one eight-oar event, will be decided on the Waikato River. The course at this portion of the river is a very fine one and popular with the oarsmen, and has been the scene of some of the finest racing known in Auckland's rowing history. The executive of the Mercer Regatta Club have been working hard, and their arrangements should go to making a most successful gala. All the best crews of the province will be seen in action, and, considering the big improvements made in their work since Anniversary Day, the visitors to the river township should be treated, not only to very close racing, but a fine standard of oarsmanship. A splendid view of the racing can be gained from many points along the river bank, and with the special train excursion a big attendance of visitors can be expected. The maiden eight-oar race should prove a big attraction, for not only is it popular with oarsmen but is most attractive for the spectators to watch. Two provincial championships will also be decided. Only fine weather is required to reward the officials for the efforts they have put forward in staging this regatta. Ladies' Fours. —-The following crew will represent the Auckland Ladies' Rowing Club in the race for ladies' fours over half a mile: Misses E. B. "Waters (stroke), M. Scott, T. Warren, I.
